An OCM center of excellence for a $102B oil and gas company
A client story in ocm center of excellence: Rather than renting change capability engagement by engagement, the client built its own: a Center of Excellence that made change management part of the organizational fabric.
Oil and gas – Change management

The opportunity
The opportunity
Operating in a sector defined by constant transformation, the company needed change management capability it owned itself: a framework tailored to its challenges and objectives, with the tools and methods to drive effective change from within.
The oil and gas sector runs on continuous transformation: portfolio shifts, digitalization and operating model change arrive in overlapping waves. An organization that must absorb change constantly needs the capability in-house, which made the Center of Excellence a strategic build rather than a program accessory.
The solution
How the ocm center of excellence work ran
WGA guided the client through the entire build of its Center of Excellence for Organizational Change Management: initial design and strategy formulation, implementation, and ongoing optimization of OCM practices, embedding change management into the organizational fabric and equipping teams with the necessary tools and methodologies.
The build moved through three phases: design and strategy formulation for the Center of Excellence, implementation of its practices and tooling across live change programs, and an optimization period where WGA tuned the operating rhythm while the client’s own team took the controls. Real transformations served as the proving ground throughout, so the CoE earned its authority by delivering, not by charter.
